I am surprised at how many of the important films I have already managed to see. "The Reader" is on tonight's agenda. "Slumdog Millionaire" next week...
I'll be curious about your thoughts on "The Reader." I have pretty sharp opinions about it.
What about sundance? Is anyone following it and do you have any picks to watch?
I heard that Sundance had slim pickins this year. Word on the street is that Slamdance has more interesting films than its big brother down the street.
I'm checking in with Blayne Weaver today about "Weather Girl's" screening at Slamdance.
I sent you my first thoughts on "The Reader."
Very... yeah.
bad news: "Let the Right One In," along with just about every other great foreign film i saw this year, has been left off of the foreign language oscar short-list, which was announced last week. there is a huge controversy over the list. i have heard that the early frontrunners are "Waltz with Bashir" (coming to the RFC in March) and "The Class." The one most often cited as an omission is "Gomorrah," an Italian film.
Do the readers of LaMoBlog need to run the Academy?
It seems every single year there is always some sort of problem with the foreign language category. How on earth can anyone make something so difficult year after year?
Grr.....
I've been lobbying for you, ChrisBrad, to take over the nomination process for three years but to no avail. I'll keep fightin' for ya! (And I want a front row seat when you're head honcho!)
I can do better than a front row seat. I'll put a recliner on stage for ya!
