'Cool Dog' to screen Aug. 29 for cast, crew

As a thanks to The Shreve, cast and crew of "Cool Dog," director Danny Lerner will present the movie at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Regal Cinemas Bossier Corners 9. It's a one-time only private screening. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The movie was shot locally in early 2009 and produced by Studio Operations, a local subsidiary of Nu Image/Millennium Films. The company's local effects division, Worldwide FX, did post-production work.

It's a family adventure flick about a famous German shepherd (hmm, what's that name?) that journeys through the Big Apple.

If you're going to local screening, I hope to be there taking pics, etc.

If you worked on the movie but didn't get an invite, let me know at akent@gannett.com and I'll put you in touch with the right folks. Act fast. There are only a handful of tickets remaining.

I saw on the 10:00 news tonite that now a producer for Straw Dogs was TASERED by the Shreveport Police and may file suit against Shreveport. Again, Cedric Glover says the police acted properly!I've been saying all along that Cedric Glover and the Shreveport police were going to run away the film industry, and now you can kiss it all goodbye. Why can't the police be this aggressive against all the real criminals in Shreveport, instead of obsessing over the little film crews? What could warrant tasering, which could be fatal? Obviously, Cedric Glover and the city of Shreveport really doesn't want the film industry here. I can name hundreds of local bars where people are told to leave and the police would never dare to taser a patron. Obviously, the shreveport police are taught to use violence, not their brain and not diplomacy.
Wait til this gets back on the international news...Shreveport is finished for good. Now Josh Brolin has credibility with his claims against shreveport. Thanks Cedric, for screwing up the police department and screwing our city out of thousands of jobs. Your political career is over.

Cedric Glover and the Shreveport police department are making Arleena Acree's job as head of local film office virtually impossible. Many think the film office should be a division of the Parish or State government instead of being under control of the mayor Cedric B. Glover. Mayor Glover has failed at everything he put his hands on, and he is not one to admit fault...ever.
Time for a change?

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, THE PEOPLE HERE IN NEW ORLEANS THANK MAYOR CEDRICK GLOVER FOR SENDING THE FILMS BACK DOWN HERE TO NEW ORLEANS. lol
OUR MAYOR & POLICE AREN'T STUPID ENOUGH TO TURN DOWN ALL THE MONEY THE MOVIE INDUSTRY BRINGS TO TOWN.

Alex-'
why not do a story on the tasering and welcoming treatment the Shreveport Police gave the production coordinator for Straw Dogs. This has happened twice now and will continue to have a negative effect on the film industry here until someone speaks up and holds Mayor Glover and his police chief responsible. They insist the police can do no wrong. I've noticed most of the media wants to cover it up for some reason. We will not let that happen. Thank God for KTBS ch 3

After seeing the screening, my bet is straight to DVD.

I heard it may go to theaters. I was at the screening and thought it was cute. This movie is meant for children under 10 years old. The kids in the theater were laughing quite a bit. There was some crying also. I think the child actors in the movie did a pretty good job.
